Maya L. Tarr is Principal and Founder of Carob Law, P.C.
Before founding Carob Law, P.C., Maya managed the trademark prosecution practice of Proskauer Rose LLP, a Tier 1 international law firm. She began her legal career at Cowan Liebowitz & Latman, a well-known IP boutique in New York where she handled trademark prosecution and contested matters for numerous flagship brands across a broad range of industries. Maya has managed thousands of trademarks in the US and internationally through the course of her career.
She has represented a wide range of domestic and international clients from Fortune 500 companies, A-list celebrities and major sports leagues, to emerging start-ups and solo entrepreneurs.
Maya’s experience includes trademark counseling, the development and management of domestic and international trademark portfolios, trademark clearance, and prosecution, as well as resolving conflicts in trademark disputes. Maya also has experience conducting comprehensive due diligence reviews of trademarks as part of large corporate transactions as well as handling domain name enforcement matters.
Before attending law school, Maya worked at various public interest organizations. She has remained committed to public service and pro bono work and is currently a member of the International Trademark Association’s pro-bono committee.
Maya was recognized in the World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000 identifying the world’s leading trademark professionals in 2024 and 2025 and Carob Law, P.C. was listed as a leading boutique in the area of Intellectual Property in the Chambers USA Spotlight Guides 2025 and 2026. Maya was also recognized in the 2023 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America™ and as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property by New York Super Lawyers from 2015 – 2021.
